Dedicated to Protecting the Lands We Love
Since 1992, the Fairhaven Acushnet Land Preservation Trust has been dedicated to acquiring, protecting, and stewarding scenic open spaces, natural areas, and farmland throughout Fairhaven and Acushnet. Together, we are preserving the natural beauty and character of these cherished landscapes so they can be enjoyed by future generations.
Loving Our Land
The Fairhaven Acushnet Land Preservation Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving open spaces, woodlands, marshes, and historic landscapes throughout Fairhaven and Acushnet, Massachusetts.
Founded in 1992 by local residents with a shared commitment to conservation, the Trust now protects more than 1,000 acres of land through direct ownership and preservation agreements. By safeguarding these natural areas, the Trust helps preserve wildlife habitat, protect water resources, maintain the rural character of our communities, and ensure these special places remain available for future generations to enjoy.

The why behind what we do
The mission of Fairhaven Acushnet Land Preservation Trust (FALPT)
Our mission is simple: to protect and steward the special lands of Fairhaven, Acushnet, and neighboring communities for generations to come.
Whether a property is protected through a conservation restriction, a donated conservation easement, or land owned and managed by our organization, we serve as its long-term steward. From working farms and family woodlands to marshes, rivers, forests, and open fields, we are the voice for the landscapes that cannot speak for themselves.
We work with landowners to preserve the character and ecological value of their properties by acquiring conservation restrictions, accepting land donations, and purchasing land when appropriate. Our commitment is permanent—ensuring these special places remain protected forever as part of our region's natural heritage.
Land Preservation
We protect forests, wetlands, marshes, farmland, rivers, and open spaces throughout Fairhaven, Acushnet, and surrounding communities. Through conservation partnerships and responsible stewardship, we help ensure these landscapes remain undeveloped, healthy, and accessible for future generations.
Public Access for All
Protected lands are meant to be experienced and appreciated. We maintain trails, preserves, and natural areas where people can walk, observe wildlife, explore, and connect with nature at their own pace while respecting the land's ecological integrity.
Community Education
Conservation succeeds when communities understand its value. We provide educational opportunities that inspire residents, landowners, and future generations to appreciate the importance of protecting local natural resources and preserving the places that make our communities unique.
Working with Landowners
Every conservation success begins with a conversation. We partner with homeowners, farmers, and landowners to explore conservation restrictions, land donations, and other preservation options that protect their property's natural, agricultural, and scenic value while honoring their long-term goals.
